Ralph Klose's Staff America Chevrolet is one of the most difficult to assemble, due to the complicated decals. Klose, however, is known as a top modeller. Last year he finished 4th at the Modeler's World Championship. This year he probably made the mistake to present his WCS Nascar without tire inscriptions and together with a cheap babe. That was not honored by the Concourse voters giving his n°74 only 9 votes, less than it deserved. Since Klose finished 2nd at the Old-Timer Concourse, he eventually was 5th at the Concourse Worlds, winning 7.5 points for Germany. At the EuroNats Klose missed the Semis for less than one lap, finishing 18th. At the Worlds he was 23rd. Bad luck of Mario Schöne at two races and the absence of the selected amateurs of North-Germany made that Germany finished 13th and is eliminated for the 2003 Nations Cup. Here not Klose and not Schöne are to blame but the tribal attitude of Matthias Parke and his friends, being more interested in the safe Heimat, where they can play king in own land, than in true international racing.   Pic: Anthony Bithrey.
