Biggest surprise at the 17th Nations Cup was the n°23 Jani King Pontiac, superbly driven by the rookie Stefan van Oppen. Coached by ex-world champion Geert Mertens, Van Oppen finished 6th at the EuroNats, winning his first IOC-points. At the Worlds he was 11th.
