IMCA Nations Cup 2002 (Ostend, August 29-September 1)
THANKS BOB, ANCO AND GEORGE!
Bob Demeyer race director in 2003, Anco Stok and Urbain Jonckheere (?) his assistants

At the Nations Cup scrutineering was done by Holland's Anco Stok, Belgium's Bob Demeyer and England's George Kimber. They did a great job with a strong sense for justice. Bob discovered the trick with the magnets, applied by the Brazilians and the Americans. Several racers showing with sanded bodies are penalised, among them "Piki" van Rossem who has to start the Worlds with 20 grams of ballast. When Cédric Gridelet doesn't show at the tire hand-out, after several calls, Bob sanctions him with 10 grams of ballast. On the pic the cars before the EuroNats scrutineering.
Next year Bob Demeyer will be a non-racing race director, just as did Anco Stok this year. Urbain Jonckheere, who was already race director at the 1986 Toulouse Worlds - where he disqualified the God of American wing car racing, threefold world champ Paul Pfeiffer - will be asked to complete the team under direction of Bob. With three non-racing scrutineers for 48 racers instead of 67, fair racing seems now to be insured at the highest level.
