Italy's Salvatore Noviello defended his title with a n°24 Chevrolet Dupont. Together with Frankie Poledna's n°55 Square D it was the fastest Chevy on the track. Initially, at the IMCA EuroNats, the car didn't behave well. So Salvatore decided to build a brand new one ...only two hours before the start of the Worlds, and despite the fact that he had to manage the computer system at the race director's stand. With his new car Noviello was setting the pace until the last segment. On the slower lane 1 he was passed by Josef Korec and Frankie Poledna during the very last minutes of the race.
