IMCA Nations Cup 2002 (Ostend, August 29-September 1)
GIOVANNI'S n°18 INTERSTATE PONTIAC

At the 2002 Nations Cup the Pontiacs were fast and reliable. Fastest of them all was undoubtedly Giovanni Montiglio's Interstate Batteries Grand Prix Pontiac, finishing third overall at the EuroNats. At the Worlds the Italian Pontiac missed the main by 5 laps and finished 12th overall. Another extremely fast Pontiac, prepared by Geert Mertens, but superbly driven by rookie Stefan van Oppen, the n°23 Jani King, finished 6th at the EuroNats and 11th at the Worlds. Last but not least the n° 97 John Deere Grand Prix by greezer Paolo Niccolai finished 10th at the Worlds. Pics: Bill Bruins, Pat Redmond and Ronald Porter.
