The threeo fastest Fords Taurus were Andres Gustafson's "bad luck" n°17, Lasse Äberg's n°77 and Geert Mertens n°7. The two last named cars finished once 5th. Nearly all racers started with the older narrow version, not with the new version being 4mm wider. That means that they were handicapped by a difficult road holding in the narrow curbs where the cars lefted easily their rear. Next year the old Taurus models will be forbidden, since IMCA racing wishes to be above all fighting with eqal arms. With a 10th place at the EuroNats and a 5th place at the Worlds, despite a difficult car, Geert Mertens proved once more all his talent.  Pic: Perry Yaeger.
