At the Old-Timer Concourse four cars were far above all others: Einari Fyhr's n°31 Ford Escort MkI RS1600, Jozef Miskolci's n°43 Ford Escort MkI RS2000, Ralph Klose's Zakspeed Escort Group 5 (unfortunately we received no picture of that car) and Russell Sheldon's (unfinished) n°2 Luigi BMW 3.0 CSL. With the naked eye you could see that all four are extremely familiar with painting of clear lexan (?) bodies. Then, far behind, came the serious racers who did an effort to make a beautiful car, even if it was the first time they had to build a lexan body. The best of those second group was undoubtedly the Jaguar XJ12C presented at Concourse by Bob Demeyer (who hates modeler's work, but who had sworn that his Belgium II team should - once more - finish among the top-10). On working with the old concourse scorelist the Jaguar should have obtained 10.5 points on 20, a fine score for a lexan "rookie". Pic: Bob Demeyer. |
