EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF ALL WORLD CUP RACES

Here we brought together the Worlds Revenge Races for wing cars, the Production 124 races for scale cars, the Old-Timer races for model cars and the extremely international and competitive races now named "Benelux Cup" races. Some federations or racers called those races "World Championships", even after the 1985 patent defending the abuse of the term "World Championship" in slot-car racing. ISRA's 132 F1 World Cup, already mentioned at our page of the European Championships, is reproduced here too.

Under the name "Benelux Cup" we put together all those IOC-races with strong international participation, which in former days were organised under other names as "1st Pinky Point Race", "2nd Pinky Point Race", "43rd Pinky Point Race", "42nd Pinky Point Race", 1/32 World Cup Profondville, Chicago 12-hours, R.O.C. Races, etc. Now they are definitively called Benelux Cup and are organised with Classic Model Cars.

1985 - The Le Mans Classic Race, contested at the MRTU Blue King at Uden (NL) on November 8-9, 1985, was the real start of model car racing with hard plastic bodies. All the best racers of the world were present, among them G7 world champion Paul Pfeiffer (USA), G7 world record holder Csaba Szelelyhidi (USA), the slot-racing legends Jon Laster (USA), Dan Debella (USA), John Strachan (USA), Henry Pena (USA-, Bernd Möbus (D), Martin Gramann (A), the late Franco Gianotti (I) and all the best Belgian and Dutch racers. There were 16 Le Mans 1966 cars at the start, most of them fit on a Mura chassis and equipped with Mura G15 motors. There were 45 starters at the qualifications, and 35 of them could start the eventual race. It was a 12 hour race (2 heats of  6 hours).
1988 - The second Le Mans Classic Team Race was contested in Chicago (USA), again with all the best racers of the world at the start. It was the fifth round of the Endurance World Championship. There were 60 racers who could qualify for only 24 starting places. It was a full 12 hour race. Cars were copies of
1987 Le Mans racing machines.
1994 - The third Le Mans Classic Team Race was contested at Rouen (F), but was restricted to the best European racers of the moment. It was a 24 hour race (2 heats of 12 hours), contested with
1964 Le Mans cars. There were 16 cars at the start, good for 40 racers. Germany's Dennis Bauer had no team mates and had to drive 12 hours non-stop. JPVR drove on 2 cars during more than 12 hours. Jozef Miskolci drove more than 9 hours. It was the last race of "Rosse Snor" who drove the whole time with a controller in his right hand and a bottle of beer in his left hand.
2001 - The fourth Le Mans Classic Team Race was contested at Grimbergen (B) over 3 heats of 12 hours each. It was called "the race of the century", since at the end of the race it should be decided who of Jan Limpach (USA) or Vladimir Horky (CZ) should be the best racer of the 20th century. Both they were leading the famous IOC-Ranking, only 5 points from each other. It was one of the most thrilling races in history, contested with
1998 Le Mans cars, fit on PlaFit chassis. After 10 hours of racing the teams of Limpach and Horky were in the very same lap. There were 48 starters from all over the world. There were 18 cars at the start.
2004 - The fifth Le Mans Classic Team Race was contested in Aalst (B) over 3 heats of 24 x 3' each. There were 24 cars at the start, all perfect copies of
1970 Le Mans cars. It was the fourth and last round of the Franco Gianotti Trophy, and again it was a very thrilling race, dominated until the one but last segment by triple world champion Nick de Wachter, who was passed during the very last segment by Josef Korec. "Piki" van Rossem lost this race on an extremely painful wise, since at the 15th sergment he missed the start and came 6 laps late. At the finish the difference among the 5 first cars was less than 6 laps.
2005 - The sixth Le Mans Classic Team Race was again contested in Aalst (B) over 5 heats of 18 x 5'. There were 30 cars at the start, again all perfect copies of Le Mans
1970. "Piki" van Rossem/Salvatore Noviello made a perfect race, winning four laps ahead over Youri van Rossem/Nick de Wachter. Niemas/Krollmann caused a stir by winning 4th overall with Dieter Jens's Chevron B-16, eight laps faster than the 2-litre Alfa Romeo T33/3 of Andreas Laufenberg and Christian Schnizler, finishing eighth.
Model car versions of the Spa-Francorchamps 24 hours were organised twice: in 2003 and in 2006.
