DISON (B): THURSDAY, AUGUST 28  TSRF-NSR 132 WORLDS

SCX

The publication of the coat of arms does not signify that the event   should be organised by the municipality.

The 1/32nd Model Car World Championship is already scheduled since December 1985 (IMCA's foundation before notary Ernst van Tricht), however NEVER was organised. This year the first edition will be organised as curtain raiser for the 18th Nations Cup on Thursday August 28 at the superb 42m Carrera 6-laner of Dison, Belgium. Sponsored by DTM's Vodafone, by Scalextric and by Ninco, the race goes with 2002 DTM bodies, fully respecting IMCA's racing philosophy: all entrants use the same handout TSRF-NSR 32 chassis, the same handout TSRF motor, the same NSR tires and the same NSR controller - ensuring the fairest possible race conditions. All the racers need to do is bringing a (correct!) hard plastic body (Scalextric, Ninco or SCX) to the raceway. Entry fee is down to 25. Number of racers is restricted to 46. Of them 24 enter the prequalification race. The two first of this race join the 22 top-racers earlier selected for the 132 Worlds (all 22 they are ranked among the top-50 of the continuous international ranking; among them also the top-10 of the world). Attribution of 2002 DTM bodies followed a pretty simple principle. Best 2002 DTM racer was Laurent Aiello, driving the n°3 Audi TT-R. Best ranked slot racer on April 30 was Josef Korec (CZ), so Korec has to race the n°3 Audi TT-R. Second best 2002 DTM racer was Bernd Schneider, driving the n°1 Mercedes CLK-DTM. Second best slot-racer on the list is Frantisek Poledna. So Poledna has to race the n°1 Mercedes. And so on. Consult the table below and you understand the attribution principle of the bodies. Track is the typical model car Carrera plastic 6-laner of the Dison Mini Racing Club, being 42 metres long with. Entrants receive free hotel for the night of Wednesday to Thursday at the Grimbergen Thermae Palace, where a shuttle will pick them up at 6h00 in the morning.. All they need to do is to bring the correct DTM body with them - the rest (RTR motorised and marked chassis, including tires) they receive at registration. Please don't forget to bring with you your 124 Nascar Concourse Car, since Concourse will be done at Dison, before the start of the main final.
Dison is an old rural town, originated in the first century. Its name appears no earlier than by 1268. Actually it counts 13,887 inhabitants and is situated in Wallonia, the French-speaking part of Belgium. The 132 IMCA Model Car Worlds are the curtain raiser for the 18th Nations Cup.

TRACK, CONTROLLERS & SPORTIVE RULES

IMCA model car races go always without use of the own controller. We use the famous NSR digital controllers with interchangeable switches, being the best controllers on the market. The controllers are equipped with two buttons, the right one regulating the brakes and the blue one regulating the acceleration. Controllers are not switched during the lane rotation. Any trial to sabotage of the controller will be sanctionned with exclusionfrom IMCA racing for a period of at least 5 years. Lane change is done exclusively by the marshals. Shouting at the marshals is absolutely forbidden with sanctions as warning (first time), 5 laps penalty (second time), disqualification (third time). Speaking is NOT allowed during racing on the same sanction. Racers found at the end of the race with a too low clearance loose 10 percent of their achieved laps. Race director is IMCA's Bob Demeyer, assisted at the computer by JPVR. Both are not entering the race. The event will be anounced to the press by the local club. Local TV and French-speaking press will be present at the race.

* = the IMCA 132 Worlds is not considered for attribution of points for the Nations Cup. ** = anybody can enter the G12 race - Before the start all racers will receive two free t-shirts with their rank number on front, their name and first name on rear (the rank numbers are those in the annual ranking by August 1, 2003). There are NO wild cards. At Dison racing goes on a 42-m Carrera 6-laner. At Grimbergen racing goes on a Carrera 6-laner short track. At Lede racing goes on a 28m50 wooden 8-laner. At the IMCA 132 Worlds all racers receive a RTR TSRF-NSR Spider chassis; all they have to do is to show with a 132 DTM body with the correct racing numbers and with a Vodafone sun-stroke in red and white on the windshield. Racers not regular with their DTM car will be refused for the rest of the meeting. At all model car races NSR digital controllers, fixed to the track are used. At all model car races handout NSR tires are used. Race director is Bob Demeyer. His assistants are Anko Stok (NL) and Andy Brown-Searle (GB). If a racer's name is followed by that implies that he's eligible to win the Audi TT Cabrio at Pinky Point2 (July 24, 2004 at Zlin); if his name is followed by that implies that he's not eligible to win the Audi TT Cabrio at Pinky Point2 since he returned the Concourse list NOT in time. Racers with their name in blue are younger than 25 years and allowed to enter the Mello Yello Junior World Championship. Racers with their name in purple are NO entrants at the Nations Cup, but starters at the 132 Model Car Worlds. However they are allowed to start at the OPEN G12 RACE.

SIMPLE TECHNICAL PRESCRIPTIONS

THE TSRF vs PROTRACK SAGA

Launching a new world championship with new chassis is no easy thing. Intitially racers insisted to use the TSRF 32 as universal chassis at the 132 Model Car Worlds. Later they found that the chassis didn't fit perfectly under most current hard plastic bodies. So we followed them and proposed to use the 132 Spider chassis of ProTrack. When we contacted ProTrack to order 25 chassis and asked them how to race the plastic chassis on a plastic track, we received no answer. On testing the Spider at the Grimbergen short track racers complained that the road-holding without magnets was desastrous. So they insisted to return to the TSRF 132 chassis. It was thus TSRF-ProTrack-again TSRF, just as in a comedy. Racer's objections that racing handout TSRF chassis under hard plastic 2002 DTM bodies (by SCX, Ninco and Scalextric) was unfair for all Audi TT-R racers - since they had to cut parts of the steel chassis part - seemed to be highly incorrect. It's certainly true that the TSRF 132 chassis is rather designed for lexan bodies than for hard plastic bodies and that there are lots of Ninco, Fly, etc. bodies not fitting well on a TSRF chassis - a problem which doesn't exist for ProTrack's Spider 132. However, on using DTM 2002 bodies, there is no problem. Moreover, if I order 25 TSRF chassis Philippe de Lespinay answers me within 5 minutes. If I order a ProTrack Spider chassis, I am without news during several days. Last but not least I was told that ProTrack stopped the production of its Spider. I don't know what to believe, but as organiser I have to take a final decision to end the 132 slap-stick. So my last word is: O.K., we go with TSRF 132, however not with the standard version, but with the race version as developed by Salvatore Noviello.  We'll do a handout of 24 TSRF/NSR competition chassis at the IMCA 132 Worlds, already equipped with the NSR light weight wheels (cf. right pics). And let the best racer win the race! [After the race all 24 TSRF/NSR chassis have to come back at a € 100 sanction.]

The NSR Competition version of the TSRF 32 (#609)

The handout TSRF/NSR Competion chassis. All racers need to do is to bring with the CORRECT 1/32nd scale hard plastic DTM body. List with body per racer is to be found below.

Simple rules by G.Montiglio & Josef Korec

1. All racers receive a RTR motorised chassis (TSRF 32) where all parts are marked. One can only replace nothing on the received chassis except the handout rear wheel. (NSR handouts of the extra light aluminium wheels, ref. #522). Any form of tire dressing results in disqualification (holds also for original front wheels which may not be changed). Adding ballast to chassis and/or body is not permitted, except if the race direction allows so. Spacers are the original ones.
2. Motor may not be opened. Pinion (brass) and crown gear (orange) should be the original ones. Axles may not be changed.
3. Fixation of body to chassis is only accepted as prescribed by the manufacturer. The road holding of the TSRF-NSR is far from convincing. So the race direction will decide if yes or no the magnet needs to be maintained.
4. Clearance on start 0.8 mm under all chassis parts and under body, never lower than 0.5 mm after racing. Minimum weight RTR motorised chassis, incl. body holders 50 gram. Minimum weight RTR car 95 gram. Maximum spur rear: 61 mm, front: wheels to be covered by body.
5. Sportive rules are the same as in IMCA rule book. Yelling at marshalls is sanctionned (warning first time, 5 laps second time, exclusion third time). Sanctions on illegal track calls. Rotation done by marshals.
6. IMPORTANT NOTE: On all bodies with a anti-sun stroke with the letters "ARCOR" racers have to replace this by "VODAFONE" (white letters) on a red background! Moreover cars need to have correct (not hand written) racing numbers. Only Vodafone cars with correct racing numbers are allowed to start (sponsoring obligations)! Click here for
