IMCA Nations Cup 2002 (Ostend, August 29-September 1)
NATIONS CUP WINNER: CZECHIA!

Eight years ago they came to the Nations Cup at Mechelen and nobody knew them: four congenial guys, racing with old cars, coming from another world. At those days they were far from unbeatable. They had to fight until the last of 10 races against youngsters from Slovakia to win their first Nations Cup. Eight years later they won six times the ISRA Scale Racing Worlds (ES24: four times with Horky, once with Josef Korec, once with Mikal Radkovic) and even once the ESROC EuroNats G-7 (with Horky). Now Horky is the all-time n°1 in the world, Josef Korec the n°6, Poledna the n°16 and Jan Korec - surprisingly fast at the Nations Cup - the n°161. Within one month they go to LA to win all first prices at the ISRA Worlds. I see only two racers able to beat them: Dave Gick (NZ) and Salvatore Noviello (I). But even Paul Ciccarello, Paul Gawronski or Brian Saunders are unable to beat them for the moment. At Ostend they pulverised all others, winning their second Nations Cup, seven streets ahead of everybody. Here the unbeatable four with f.l.t.r. Jan Korec, Josef Korec, Vladimir Horky and Frantisek Poledna. Next year they come with a fifth racer: Antonin Vojtek.   Pic: Paul OWH Kassens.
