RACE FACTS - The Cirtek Ferrari Modena is at no mement a serious contender for class winning. Qualified as 39th, the car is only eleventh among the GT cars. Poorly prepaired the car crawls into 25th position after 5 hours of racing. Then Rob Wilson misses the Michelin Chicane but can continue. Shortly after midnight Frank Mointain spins off at the Playstation Chicane and eight minutes are lost into the pits for slight body repairs. The car can come back into 25th position after 15 hours of racing. At 07.25h in the morning Hans Hugenholtz has a moment when on the Mulsanne Hill his door falls open. After a short inspection in the pits the car can continue. At 09.36h, in 21st position, Frank Mountain misses the Michelin Chicane, damaging the body and loosing part of the bottom plate. Pieces are scotched and Rob Wilson can take over without considerable loss of time. A stop and go penalty (for Mountain's bad manoeuvre at the Michelin Chicane) results in the loss of one place. Hugenholtz and Wilson drive each two hours towards the end of the race and the car finishes as 20th (even 19th after the disqualification of the #16 Dome S101). With 16 laps less than the GT class winning #90 Petersen/White Lightning Porsche, the Cirtek Ferrari Modena is only seventh in its class. |
