RACE FACTS - Started as 27th on the grid (headed by the two Corvettes, the two Prodrive 550 Ferraris and the Larbre Compétition 550 Ferrari) Deletraz/Hezemans/Barde have a quiet race bringing the car into rank 13 after 5 hours of racing. Then 15 minutes are lost in the pits to change a gripped brake calipper. At 22.49 the car is again immobile in the garage during 34 minutes as it appears that the troubles are not solved. The car drops into 34th position when, shortly after midnight Hezemans goes off at the Mulsanne Chicane. At 01.25h Deletraz spins at the Ford Chicane but can continue his race. The car is far behind without any chance to realise still a worthy performance. In speed it is sharply beaten by the older 550 Maranello Ferraris (Prodrive and Larbre Compétition). Shortly after mid-race another twenty minutes are lost in the pits with direction troubles. Electronic bothers make the car loosing more and more ground and at 08.16h Deletraz needs 15 minutes to achieve one single lap. The car comes into the garage where it will be definitively retired at 08.28h. |
