RACE FACTS - Having finished 10th overall at the Monza 1,000-kms (second GTS car!) the #61 Ferrari 575 GTC was a potential winner in the GTS-class, but shortly before the start the team had to change the engine. It's already the third engine change in one week. During the seven first hours the car moves from rank 28 on the grid to rank 13. Neverttheless the car disappoints, being totally unable to equal the performances of both Prodrive Ferraris 550 or of the slower Larbre Compétition 550. At mid-race the car is always 13th. Shortly before, at 03.37h however, all will be lost in the pits when both front brake discs are so hot that they repeatedly catch fire, despite many doses of extinguishant. The car will stay immobile in the pits and is retired four hours later.
