AUGUST 23-29 AT UDEN (NL) & AALST (B)
THE 16TH IMCA WORLDS, EDITION 2004

The 2004 IMCA Nats consist out of two parts. From Monday August 23 to Thursday August 26, all racing goes at the MRTU Blue King in Uden. Here are contested the Red Bull Ultimate G7 Race (U7), the two Yukos G12 Races and the 16th CocaCola 1/24 Model Car World Championship (with as curtain raiser the Red Bull Amateur's Worlds and the Mello Yello Juniors Worlds). From Friday August 27 to Sunday August 29 the IMCA Nats continue with model car racing on the Carrera 6 of the Belgian Model Car Centre.

The Belgian races go exclusively with 49 splendid handout classic cars which will be raced at the F. Gianotti Trophy. Nothing on those cars may be changed without approaval of the constructors (8 in total). The 1/32nd race goes with handout construction kits of NSR-TSRF cars. All what need to be done for this race is bringing with the correct hard plastic DTM body. The Belgian races go exclusively for fun. Here no heavy slot-racing boxes are needed. Even the controllers are handouts by NSR.

The longer racers wait to make the reservation, the smaller is the chance that they'll still find rooms in the above hotels. We ask all racers having reserved a room to send us an e-mail at jppro@pandora.be so that we know in which hotel we can find them. The times by the Gerd van de Wiel cars can seriously be improved on rebraiding the cars. The times behind the cars are the results of 2 test sessions, one before the cars were sent to England and one after the cars came back from England. At the second test session only few cars improved their best time, among them the Pit Schwaar cars.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Except for race director Bob Demeyer and for the Belgian Racers, all racers have to do the reservation of their hotel rooms themselves. The longer racers wait to make the reservation, the smaller is the chance that they'll still find rooms in the above hotels. We ask all racers having reserved a room to send us an e-mail at jppro@pandora.be so that we know in which hotel we can find them. Racers flying in to Brussels have on Monday afternoon a free shuttle from Aalst to Uden. There is a direct train from the Brussels Airport to Aalst.

DONE PAYOUT OF INCENTIVES: € 28,500  - TO BE DONE: € 11,820

July 16 - Since I'll be out of office until August 2 no more payments of incentives will be done (except for racers who need financial help and who should be unable to show without prepayment). All remaining incentives will be paid cash upon arrival. We already paid € 28,500 to 27 racers coming by plane (19 of them being G7 racers). Another 6 racers, coming by plane, never communicated their bank dates so that no SWIFT could be done. They'll receive their money (€ 3,850 in total) upon arrival in Uden (NL). Those racers are all 4 G7 entrants. Last but not least 24 racers coming by car or train - 2 of them being G7 entrants - will receive their incentives on arrival (€ 7,970 in total). Total of all incentives is € 40,320 ($ 48,000 US). It concerns 56 different racers (among them 28 are G7 racers). It's perhaps good to know that only € 20,000 of that total amount was covered by sponsoring money, and that I had to pay the rest out of my own pocket.
It's also good to know that IMCA invested another € 36,750 in the construction of 50 perfect classic model cars, built by 7 German racers plus Philip de Vries/Tamar Nelwan. Last but not least € 8,000 was invested in the construction of 10 G12 Wing cars + spare parts. If such high prices for cars are justified will be judged at the F. Gianotti Trophy and the G12 Wing Car Race.
Two most important races of the meeting are of course the Ultimate G7 Race (on Tuesday August 24) and the IMCA Model Car World Championship (on Thursday August 26), both contested in Uden (NL) on the MRTU Blue King.
We remember all racers that they have to make themselves their hotel reservations. Racers flying in via Brussels have a direct train from Brussels Airport to Aalst. There they are expected by 3pm where a free shuttle will bring them to Uden, largely in time for the G7 free practice of Monday evening. If they are not involved in the model car races of Thursday the same shuttle will bring them back on Wednesday night to their hotel in Aalst. On Thursday night the same shuttle will be again in Uden to bring over all other racers who want so from Uden to Aalst.
On flying in via Amsterdam racers have to take train and bus to Uden. Renting a car with several racers together is perhaps the best solution to make the trip from the airport to the race location.
I remember the addresses of the raceways:
MRTU, Parklaan 2, NL-5404 NH UDEN (phone + 31/(0)413-26.52.73 and +31/(0)6-537.40.711 of Douwe Banning).
Belgian Model Car Centre, Moorselbaan 391, B-9300 AALST (phone: + 32/(0)498/11.57.82).
Addresses of the hotels are found below.
On Friday there will be NO Nascar race in Aalst, only the 1/32nd model car world championship. The reason is that a total other setup of the cars is needed for the plastic track than for the Blue King. By cancelling the Nascar race on Friday we can start only at noon with the 1/32nd race, what gives everybody more time to make the move from Uden to Aalst.

Concerning the rules I remember that ball bearings for rear axles are only allowed on G12 Wing cars, NOT on G12 Production cars. In the Rulebook one also finds a list with the bodies allowed at the G12 Production Race. Concerning the track condition for the G12 Wing car race I remember that glueing is allowed during practice and that before each heat that glueing condition (as aplied by the racers themselves) will be maintained by adding some drops of glue where the condition was worsening.
At the Nascar races there will be a handout of rear tires and of Bison Mk3 motors. At the races with classic cars there will be a handout of Fox motors. At the G12 races there will be a handout of Alpha rear tires. At the 132 Model Car World Championship racers receive a complete car kit. They have to assemble the cars within 2 hours.
At the G7 race I'll do the race direction myself, assisted by Ralph Klose. At all other races Bob Demeyer will be the race director.
Entry fees are € 35 at the G7 race, at the 124 IMCA Model Car World Championship and at the 132 IMCA Model Car World Championship. At all other races entry fee is € 25 per car. Only payments in euros will be accepted. [JPVR]
