¶ 1. RACING PREMISES

Ostend (B)

Intially the Nations Cup was scheduled at Diepenbeek, in the east corner of Belgium. However, there you cannot find enough possibilities for the family to have an enjoyable vacation. Eventually we decided to move to Ostend, the queen of sea side ressorts at the Belgian North Sea. Ostend, at one hour by train from the national airport, at 60 miles from Brussels, offers extremely large possibilities to enjoy unforgetable holidays. At Ostend you find a splendid beach where bathing is a real pleasure. You have the Casino, the Royal Villa, the famous Thermae Palace, the race course for horses, the always crowded promenade, etc. You have all possibilities for shopping in a city with more than 60,000 inhabitants. And of course you find the Boccaccio Beach, the biggest megadancing of Belgium. Ostend is at only 15 minutes from Bruges, the Venice of the North, and one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, combining our postmodern times with the well-conserved survivals of the Middle Ages. So you have all possibilities for amusement, sightseeing, and mundane pleasure. For you and your family it can be one of the best vacations of your life. There are 69 hotels, but also two campings. The racing premises are at less than a 1/4 mile from the railway station, installed in one of the halls of the megadancing. On coming by plane you have at Zaventem each hour a train to Ostend. On coming by car you follow the motorway Brussels-Ghent-Bruges-Ostend (66 miles).   For more info: click here!

¶ 3. THE TRACKS

MODEL CAR TRACK AT OSTEND (B) is a 35-metre wooden 8-laner, built in 2000 by PDS (Perry Dekker). Installed in the 60 x 40 m Sport Hall "Demerstrand" with 100 working benches - will be raced at 13.8 Volt with 16T pinion. It is a very fast track with smooth curbs where in principle only 6 marshalls are needed. Lap counting is done by electronic photo cells (BEPFE system by Stefan Vogel, phone +49-82126-21.33.34). Racers can read on-line on a computer screen the achieved number of laps, their ranking and the lap times of the 5 last laps. It is the same track as used at the 2001 IMCA Worlds at Diepenbeek. The G-12 race will go at a 42-metre Flat Track with enough power.

¶ 6. EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF MONEY INCENTIVES

The IMCA pays in total € 21,100 to most of the racers in order to pay their traveling costs. The money will be wired to the team coaches during the second week of August.  If it concerns a team with racers of two nationalities (New Zealand/Australia and USA/Brazil) the money will be wired to the first racer of each nation. The coach is considered to distribute the money over his racers. At our presentation page you can find an exhaustive list telling who receives what. The wiring goes under the following explicit conditions:
1. The racer will enter at least (a) the Old-Timer Team Race (if he was selected for this race), (b) the IMCA EuroNats Open with Nascar WCS cars, (c) the Consolation Race if the racer was not directly qualified for that race, (d) the IMCA World Championship if the racer was qualified for that race, and (e) the Open G-12 race. If the racer is younger than 25 years and if he is selected for the Mello Yello Juniors World Championship, he will also enter that race.
2. The racer is supposed to show with a decent Nascar model car, already finished upon arrival at the racing premises. No last minute assemblings will be accepted.
3. If a racer didn't respect both conditions he has to refund the received incentive within 7 days. Only the tribunal at Brussels is accepted should there raise any conflict.
