SURVEY FIA GT CHAMPIONSHIP 2002

FIA GT CHAMPIONSHIP 2002

At the last round at Estoril the BMS Ferrari 550 Maranello won its fourth seasonal race, 22 seconds ahead of the Taem Carsport Holland Viper, shared by Hezemans/Kumpen. In N-GT Stéphane Ortelli won his 7th race of the season, whilst the first Ferrai Modena was the British one (Sugden/Kirkaldi), finishing 2 laps down and 3rd in the class. Tthe two Maranello 550 Ferraris, started from the first line on the grid, were also the fastest during the race. After a prolonged pit stop the n°22, shared by Calderari/ Bryner/Gounon, finished 5th. At the individual standings Christophe Boucht is again the champion in GT, since he collected 3 points for his 4th place, whilst his team mate David Terrien, now on the other Larbre Compétition Viper, could not finish, and comes ...one point short to beat his team-mate. Campbell and Walter-Springer, havinf finished 3rd, came only 2.5 points short to beat Bouchut. Lister Storm and Chrysler won each 3 rounds in GT, the BMS Ferrari 550 Maranello won 4 rounds. Without a disastrous Spa 24-hours, Deletraz and Pucini could have won the overall championship. In N-GT Stéphane Ortelli was outstanding at the wheel of the semi-factory Porsche 996 GT3R, having won 7 rounds against 2 for the Ferraris 360 Modena.
