MOCPA wishes to stop the ridiculous high prices asked for model cars. A RTR model car for SEMI-PROS (& AMATEURS) may never cost more than 199.00 (decals not included). For PROS the limit is 299.00. Chassis costing over 100 are banned. One needs to keep in mind that above the price for chassis & body one needs minimum 105 for all the rest [minimum 16 for a pair of ball bearings; at least 2.98 for a pair of 3mm blank axles; at least 2.87 for a set of spacers; 10.95 for a pair of front wheels; $ 10.95 for a pair of rear wheels, 5.00 for 4 wheel inserts, 2.00 for guide, guide nut & washers; 4.00 for a spur gear and a pinion; 3.00 for lead wire and wire clips; 1.98 for braids; at least 15.00 for a lightning set and at least 29.95 for a motor; that makes 104.68]. In what follows MOCPA publishes an an exhaustive list of model car items which can be used in "fair" international racing. Ultimate goal is that at MOCPA sprint & endurance racing - except for screws, spacers, and washers - no other parts can be used than those in the list. Frustrating for non-German and non-Spanish racers is that nearly all quality parts are manufactured in Germany and Spain and that there are nearly no English order lists for all parts. The supremacy of the German model car racers is highly due to the fact that German manufacturers release nearly continuously new parts, completely unknown in the rest of the world. That resulted in the late 1990s into a massive withdrawal of the international racers from model car racing, letting the field open for the German specialists. Except for Germany, Spain, Austria and Switzerland nobody else releases products for model car racing. We propose to update the list twice per year: once on August 31 and once on March 1. At the 2012 Endurance World Championship, contested with the fast ProSlot Euro Mk1 Puppy Dog motors, it should be unwise to use the more fragile GFK/carbon or polystyrene bodies, not resistant at high speed crashes. Unfortunately no manufacturer releases actually a set coherent PETG bodies at scale 1/24th of ACTUAL race cars. MOCPA negotiates with body manufacturers in order to release true scale bodies of the V8 Supercars as raced in Australia. It concerns the Holden Commodore VE II and the Ford Falcon FG. As soon as the negotiations will be materialised this section will be updated. At any rate bodies will be available no later than March 31, 2012. Price will be under $ 25.00 US. probably 18.50 for all bodies (interior incl., except for hard plastic driver's head) |
