The 2011 Model Car Worlds for pros will again be contested on the MTT track at Wezembeek-Oppem next to Brussels. Organiser is the SRC Merlijn of Raymond van Campenhout. The event will be split into four parts.
(1) The 2nd Retro Car World Championship with Retro Canam cars, equipped with lexan bodies, will be the curtain raiser on Friday, being open for all racers interested in this formula. In retro racing we follow the well-known IRRA Rules set, except for the handout motors. The PS4000-IMCA motor - being not fast enough for those cars - will be replaced this year by the more appropriated Falcon motor. Here nobody can buy more than three handout motors. 
(2) The 10th Endurance World Championship starts on Friday evening with free practice, con-course and technical control. Entry is limited to 24 FIA GT1 cars, all perfect 1/24th scale copies of the 24 cars having been seen at the  2010 FIA GT1 World Championship. Those 24 cars will be assembled by 12 constructors, entering each 2 cars, involved in the 3rd Constructor's World Championship. There are always 2 drivers per car. The Endurance Worlds will be contested  over 5 rounds of 8 x 7'30". At each round the top-15 finishers score res. 20-18-16-14-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 points. The team having collected most points after 5 rounds will be the new Endurance World Champion. Teams of two drivers remain unchanged during 5 rounds. A rear tyre change is obligatory at round #3. The 48 entrants receive a personalised t-shirt, 2 pairs of rear wheels per car and one handout Proslot PS4000-IMCA motor. If they want so they can buy a second tagged handout motor, but never more than one.
(3) The same 24 FIA GT1 cars will contest on Sunday afternoon the 23rd IMCA 1/24th Sprint World Championship, however now with only ONE driver per car. The 12 constructors, competing for the 3rd Constructor's World Championship will assign who'll be their driver on each of their two cars. The Sprint Worlds follow the traditional format of qualifications, quarters, semis and main. Constructors win at the Sprint Worlds double points.
(4) On Sunday evening the 24 entrants at the 1/24th Sprint Worlds are invited at the 13th IMCA 1/32nd Sprint World Championship, with 24 handout identical NSR Moslers to be assigned randomly.  All those cars are in a perfect Salvatore Noviello set-up. If not interested entrants at the 1/24th Sprint Worlds can let them be replaced by other racers.

Note 1 -
The 12 constructors competing for the 3rd Constructor's World Championship, win not only points at the races mentioned sub (2) and (3), but they can win bonus points at the FIA GT1 Concourse, judged by Pit Schwaar and Jean-Marie Tillen. Here the 10 highest ranked cars win for their constructor res. 20-19-18-17-16-15-14-13-12-11 points, all others 7.5 points.
Note 2 -
The 5 rounds of the Endurance Worlds and the 1/24th Sprint Worlds count for the famous 8th Franco Gianotti Trophy, commemorating the late Italian driver - one of the finest men in slot-racing history. As for medical reasons the 2011 IMCA Worlds will be the real last ones I'll organise, I am afraid that the 8th Franco Gianotti Trophy will be the last in history. A thread on Slotblog, looking who was interested to continue the Gianotti Trophy after my enforced withdrawal, revealed unfortunately that absolutely nobody replied.  
Note 3 - Race director at the 23rd IMCA Nats will be Theo Vanginderhuysen assisted by Gérard Colson. Technical inspection at the Retro Worlds will be done by Dave Fiedler.
Note 4 -
The Hotel costs can be kept low as nobody has to reserve a hotel room for more than 4 nights. The 2011 Model Car Worlds are an organisation by SRC Merlijn.

Who will be the 24 entrants at the 124 Sprint Worlds? Each constructor assigns 2 of his racers who are allowed to enter the Sprint Worlds, where there is only ONE racer on each of his two cars. The 8 racers without the pro status can never be selected for the 1/24th Pro Sprint Worlds.

Who comes from "Leuven" or Antwerp joins the Ring around Brussels (R0), following direction "Charleroi-Namen". Those who come from Wallonia join also the R0, but now in the direction "Zaventem-Oostende".
At exit 2 one quits the Ring R0 and takes to the left, going under the Ring. One joins over only 100 metres the Wezembeeklaan, joining the left exit where one takes the Louis Marcelisstraat until one sees the church. There one has to turn around the plane, following the indication "Camping". Behind the church one turns to the right, 50 metres further to the left (Pietersplein), to take again 50 metres further the Bergbokstraat, where, after 100 metres one still follows "Camping", turning to the left (watch for the speed ramps!) into the Kerkbergstraat. The Kerkhofstraat, where one finds Jeugdhuis Merlijn, is now the first street at the right. The Jeugdhuis lies mid of a grass park with a beautiful pond. Pay attention: there is absolutely no smoking in the racing premises.
Catering: A bar is installed in the Jeugdhuis where you can find at democratic low prices beverages, sandwiches, French fries, hot dogs, etc.
Fees: Entry fee for racers entering the Retro Worlds is € 25, for the 124 Enduro Worlds € 100 per racer (= 5 races of 1 hour). There is no fee for the 124 Sprint Worlds and for the 132 Worlds. Racers receive a personalised purple t-shirt with their name in gold if it concerns racers with 250 or more IOC points, in yellow for the other pros (including the 8 semi-pros who received a wild card).
Who wins the Enduro Worlds? The Enduro Worlds go over 5 rounds where all cars race one hour. The 15 first ranked cars receive 20-18-16-14-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 points. After the 5 rounds points per car are added. The racers on the car having collected most points are the winners.
Who wins the Constructor's Worlds?  Concourse will be judged by Pit Schwaar and Jean-Marie Tillen. The 10 first ranked cars win res. 20-19-18-17-16-15-14-13-12-11 bonus points for their constructor - all others 7.5 points. At the 5 rounds of the Enduro Worlds cars win for their constructor the same points as above. At the 1/24th Sprint Worlds points are doubled. The constructor having won in total most points with his two cars wins the 2010 Constructor's Worlds.
Motors: Only tagged handout motors may be used. For all cars, except the retro cars, it concerns a well broken in PS4000-IMCA motor, which racers have to return at the end of the meeting. Use of the handout motors is free. At the Retro Worlds racers can buy tagged Falcon motors at € 10. Nobody can buy more than 3 motors.
Rear wheels: For the Enduro races with FIA GT cars each team receives for free two pairs of Scaleauto 27.5 x 13 mm rear wheels. The first pair can be used at the first two rounds of the Enduro Worlds. During the third race all racers have to change tyres at the race direction stand, where they receive the second pair of rear tyres only after they returned the first pair.
Travelling Incentives: There are travelling incentives for racers coming from overseas, with a maximum of $ 1,250 US. Travelling incentives belong not to SRC Merlijn's business. They have to be agreed by mail to the fund raiser at jppro@pandora.be.

¶2. FIA GT1 WORLDS CARS FOR THE 2011 IMCA WORLDS

Since the first model car worlds, in 1985, we always tried to maintain a link as close as possible between 1/1 auto sport and slot-racing. At the Endurance Worlds we will race 1/24th copies of the 24 cars having been seen at the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship. Entry at the Endurance Worlds follows art 1.3.3. of the IMCA Rulebook.

THE 3RD CONSTRUCTOR'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

The 2011 Endurance World Championship will also be the 3rd Constructor's World Championship. In 2004 Matthias Parke won the first edition ahead of Tamar Nelwan. In 2005 Tamar took revenge, beating Matthias. The 2011 champion will reveive not only € 2000 cash, but can expect an increased demand of the slot-racing products he's selling.
The 2011 edition goes over
(1) the 5 rounds of the Enduro Worlds  where 12 constructors win per round res. 20-18-16-14-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 points (here there are always two racers per car);
(2) over the 1/24th Sprint Worlds where points are doubled (at the Sprint Worlds we'll use the same FIA GT1 cars as at the Enduro Worlds, however, now with only one racer per car; constructors will decide who of their racers does the Sprint Worlds ;
(3) over Concourse where the 10 best finishing cars win a bonus of res. 20, 19, 18, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12 and 11 bonus points, all others 7.5 bonus points.
Concourse judgement will be done by two impartial judges, nl. Pitter Schwaar and Jean-Marie Tillen. Meanwhile the twelve invited constructors received already a personal invitation. Nick de Wachter (NL) and Sebastian Nockemann (D) refused the invitation. They have be replaced by Andre Linberg (D) of Slot-Ringer and by myself. The invited constructors are thus:

l from Germany: Michael Niemas (Niemas Racecars), Matthias Parke  (Slotracing Werk), Ralph Seif and André Linberg;
l from The Netherlands: Hugo Dekker and Tamar Nelwan/Gabe Inäbnit;
l from Catalunya: Francesc Reyes (Franspeed);
l from Belgium: JPVR and Raymond van Campenhout;
l from New Zealand: Chris Radisich;
l from the U.S.A.: Mike Stahl
l
from Nigeria (but living in Germany): Fola Osu (Slotfabrik).
After the three parts, mentioned above, the constructor having won most points with his two cars will be declared the 2011 Constructor's World Champion.

Tamar Nelwan was the last winner of the Constructor's World Championship in 2005. In building the cars he was helped by Nick de Wachter, Gabriel Inäbnit and the tyre specialist Andreas Laufenberg.

THE LAST FRANCO GIANOTTI TROPHY 

Franco Gianotti passed away in 2002. Since that year I organised each year a memorial to com-memorate the unforgettable Italian racer. As the 2011 Worlds is the real last one I organise, I am afraid that it will be the last Gianotti Trophy. It will be contested over six rounds (5 of the Enduro Worlds plus the 124 Sprint Worlds) with FIA GT1 cars where the top-15 finishers can win res. 20-18-16-14-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 points. I proposed for the period 2012-2016 a Gianotti Trophy with DSC 1973 Interserie cars.
Unfortunately - except for Matthias Parke - nobody seemed interested. For me it was a painful experience, just as if after me nobody wish to continue the commemoration of the great champion Franco was. The last Franco Gianotti Trophy will be thus contested on Saturday and Sunday. There will be a super trophy for the team having won most points. More...
