The 21st IMCA Nats will be organised in 2009 in Toronto from Monday July 27 thru Friday July 31, 2009. All racing will go on the Steve Ogilvie MTT wooden 8-laner of IMCA Canada.  There will be 6 qualification rounds of 8 x 3' for Ferrari model cars counting for the Franco Gianotti Trophy 2009. All model car races will be contested with 56 1/24th Fujimi Ferraris F430 Challenge cars split in 3 groups:  16 EXPERTS for the Trofeo Pirelli, 16 KIDS (with 8 from North-America) for the Coppa Shell and 24 Amateurs (with 12 from North-America) for the Motorola N-America Series. [EXPERTS are racers having won 50 or more IOC points and being 21 or older; AMATEURS are older than 21 and won less than 50 IOC points; KIDS are younger than 21]. The 14 best ranked Experts after the 6 qualification rounds in the Trofeo Pirelli, the 13 best Kids in the Coppa Shell and the 13 best Amateurs of the Motorola N-America Series will be qualified for the 21st Model Car 124 Worlds. So 40 of the 56 entrants in total. [The 8 best Kids and 8 best Amateurs after the 6 qualification rounds will be qualified for the 12th Mello Yello Junior & Amateur Worlds. The 24 first at the 21st Model Car Worlds will be qualified to contest the 5th Model Car 132 Worlds.] Entry fee for the Ferrari sprint races (where all entrants will race during minimum 2h30 and maximum 4h00) is 200 Canadian dollars (= € 125.00). No subscription will be definitiively accepted as long as this entry fee was not swifted to Mark Campbell's bank account. More info on this will follow.

The IMCA Sprint Worlds are followed by the 3rd Endurance World Championship, a 24 hour race with 16 Le Mans (2008) cars (11 LMP1, 2 LMP2 and 3 LMGT1).  There are three racers per car, doing at least six of the 24 x 30' stints and never more than nine. The 8 fastest qualifiers do their non interrupted 12 hour race the last day, the 8 slowest qualifiers one day earlier Entry fee for the Endurance Worlds is 75 CAD per racer (= € 47.50). Read more...

Racers interested to show at the 2009 Toronto IMCA Worlds are asked to complete a provisional entry form found on this page. The Toronto Worlds will be organised by IMCA's new president Mark Campbell. There is place for 54 entrants among them at least 20 North-American racers. The sprint races will go with 2007 Ferrari F430 Challenge cars for EXPERTS & KIDS and with 2008 Motorola F430 cars for AMATEURS. As soon as we know who'll be the entrants we can work on an agreement to have plane tickets at the lowest prices and on a sponsoring contract to help European entrants at a travelling incentive.

PART 1; THE FERRARI SPRINT RACES & THE 21st MODEL CAR WORLDS
l THE 6 QUALIFICATION ROUNDS -
Races of 8 x 3'. Order of the heats in each group [Trofeo Pirelli, Coppa Shell, Motorola N-America] depends upon the IOC ranking on January 1, 2009. Top-3 finishers in each group  have to add 15, 10 and 5 grams of ballast for the following round. Adding of ballast is done by the race direction. Ballast may only be removed if no more finishing in the top-3. Experimental chassis are allowed at the warm-up races, but not at the 21st Worlds.  There are separate rankings for the 3 groups of cars.
l 21st BENELUX CUP - One makes the overall ranking for the three groups at Qualification round #5. That ranking will be the final one for the traditional Benelux Cup.
l 17th IMCA EURONATS - One makes the overall ranking for the three groups at Qualification round #6. That ranking will be the final one for the traditional Benelux Cup. Contrarily to previous years there will be only ONE European Champion Sprint Racing in 2008.

§ 2. ENDURANCE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

April 5, 2008 - Once all races with the Ferrari model cars are over it's time for the 3rd ENDURANCE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. Here 16 Le Mans cars of 2008  with always 3 drivers per car are involved for a 24 hour race, being a model car version of the 2008 Le Mans 24 hours. For this race 48 racers, coming from the five continents, are invited.

TWICE A NON-INTERRUPTED 12 HOUR RACE -  The Qualifications (2 minutes per car) will decide upon who will start in the slowest or the fastest heat of 24 x 30 minutes (with 2 minutes per rotation). The 8 fastest cars will start the last day, the 8 slowest one day earlier. In both 12 hour heats there will be a 4 hour night section. Each heat will start at 7 pm and finish at 8.30 am the following morning. One of the three racers on each car will do the marshalling at the M-place with the same number as that of the lane on which the team mates have to race. The smallest absence at the M-place will be sanctioned by 100 laps. Slow marshalling can be penalised. Putting a deslotted car in the wrong lane will cost 50 laps.

ON MOTORS & TYRES - Before the start each team will receive a sealed PS4000-IMCA motor which will be raced at 14.2 Volt. A spare motor will be available at the race director's stand after the other motor came back. Just before the technical inspection each team will receive a pair of fresh tyres. Two other pairs per team will wait at the race direction stand, but can only be obtained after bringing in the old tyres. At least one tyre change will be obliged. Ground clearance starting the race is 1 mm (0.039 inch) and may never drop under 0.4 mm (0.0156 inch) on a sanction of 10 per cent of the laps achieved since the last control (there will be three controls per heat).

LE MANS CARS - There will be 16 cars at the start. In LMP1 that are 3 Audis R10, 3 Peugeots 908, 3 Pescarolos LMP1, 1 Courage LC70 and 1 Lola B06/80 Aston Martin. In LMP2 that are 2 Porsches RS Spyder. In LMGT1 that are 2 Corvettes C6-R and 1 Aston Martin DBR9. The winning team in each class receives one trophy per driver. We may be sure that organiser Mark Campbell will find enough Hawaiian Tropic Girls to do the handout of the trophies. Distribution of the cars is for European racers as at the EEC 2009.

WHO WILL BE THE 2009 WORLD CHAMPION ENDURANCE RACING? The drivers of the car - irrespective of its class - having achieved most laps will be the 2009 world champions endurance racing
.

SCRUTINEERING & TECHNICAL CONTROL - Contrarily to the rounds of the 2008 EEC, where Tamar Nelwan & Cie do all technical control, despite the fact that they are racers themselves, it's excluded that such can happen at a world championship. Technical control and scrutineering will be done by IMCA officials being no racers. Probably that will be Andy Wasserman and Jean-Marie Tillen.

ON TRACK CALLS - Track calls are always allowed for cars deslotting in the pit lane before the racers. If at least three cars deslot at the same area a track call is allowed. If more than one car is in the same slot a track call is also allowed. The only other cases where a track call will be accept are (1) when a car is unmarshable, (2) when the braids of the track came up, (3) when there is a power failure on a concrete lane and (4) when a car deslots under the bridge. Only the words "Track", "Double" and "Bridge" - announced loudly enough - will be accepted. Each illegal track call will result in a 50 laps penalty. [JPVR]
