2008 EUROPEAN ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP (EEC)
3 Rounds (2 x 24h, 1 x 12h): Oslo(N), Brussels(B), Alsdorf (D)
LET'S RESTORE THE LINK BETWEEN SLOT-RACING AND AUTO SPORT

October 18, 2007 - In 2006 and in 2007 IMCA (International Model Car Association) organised the European Endurance Champion-ship over one round at the Spa 124 track. In 2008 IMCA  will organise the official European Endurance Championship 1/24th (EEC 2008) over 3 rounds: Oslo (N), Wezembeek-Oppem (Brus-sels, B) and Alsdorf (D). All races will be contested on wooden tracks.
The EEC 2008 is an attempt to bring model car racing and autosport closer together. All rounds will be contested with 1/24th models of cars seen at the 2007 Total Spa 24 hours. The three meetings are intended to enforce the friendship among racers coming from Europe and even from further. At the EEC 2008 we wish to stop definitively the style of Mickey Mouse racing with 6 or more racers per car and only as much cars at the start as there are lanes. In the eyes of potential sponsors such racing is hardly more than some fairground attraction (although such interpretation seems over the edge). In 1/32 racing Yves Welter sr although, has given full evidence that another approach is possible. The EEC 2008 will go with 24 cars per race and two drivers per car (3 can be allowed). Cars will be 1/24th copies of the race cars seen in the 2007 Total Spa 24 Hours. There will be raced in two classes: GT1 (16 cars) and GT2 (8 cars) with distinct results in both classes. In GT1 there is room for 6 Maseratis, MC12, for 4 Aston Martins DBR9, for 4 Corvettes (3 C5R and 1 C6R) and for 2 Lambos Murciélago R-GT. In GT2 there is room for 5 Ferraris F430 GT2, for 3 Porsches 997 GT3-RSR. In order to respect our sponsoring contract those 24 cars MUST be at the start of any of the 3 rounds.

Round #1 Oslo 12h (wooden 6 laner) Round #2 Merlijn 24h (Brussels, wooden 8 laner) Round #3 Total Spa 24h(Alsdorf, wooden 6-laner)

The 2008 Endurance EuroNats will be run under control of Tamar Nelwan & Cie. They'll be the co-ordinators for the complete series. If you have questions concerning the 2008 EEC, please go to the LMS forum at http://www.slotracinglemans.com/newforum/index.php.
For the 24 cars only the SERIOUS racers are nominated. After the last minute withdrawals for the 19th Model Car Worlds - having cost IMCA more than € 9,000 - all fantasts have been taken out the entry list, so that the number of cars could be reduced from 32 to 24. In total 32 racers are nominated for the 16 GT1 cars and 24 for the 8 GT2 cars. Should one of them be unable to show at a meeting their car should absolutely be at the start with one or two substitute drivers, otherwise we loose the money of the sponsoring contract. It's thus time to say goodbye to all visionaries and clowns who cost us lots of money!!!
Racing with 24 cars instead 32 makes that more time per team can be used for racing. In Oslo that's 3 hours per car, in Brussels 8 hours and at Alsdorf 6 hours. The race in Oslo will start at 1pm and will be finished at 1am.   Our Swedish friends
Christer Burnstrom/Leif Nilsson can do the three rounds with one car (not two as initially was said): the EbiMotor Porsche 997 GT3/RSR. Tamar Nelwan wishes to switch cars with Francesc Reyes, so that he and Gabe can drive the all-Dutch #5 Corvette C5R.
Racers interested to be substitute driver can always use the subscription form below to let us know for what round they are candidate racer. IMPORTANT: Racers of the 8 first GT1 cars and of the 4 first GT2 cars will be automatically selected for the 2009 3rd IMCA Endurance Worlds. The 2008 Endurance Worlds will be contested as part of the 20th IMCA Nats. More...
Cars must be built respecting art. 7 of the IMCA Rule Book. Most reliable chassis for endurance racing remains the PlaFit Excel Pro and the PlaFit SLP (have a look at them at our parts page). However, the new PlaFit Rally, not directly developed for endurance racing, but ultra solid, may be considered as an excellent one too. Motor is always the handout ProSlot Euro Mk1. Rear wheels are always the handout Scaleauto ProComps. The Porsche 997 GT3-RSR is no longer a problem since DiTech released an excellent slotcar version (84 mm wide in rear, 82 mm in front).
