2004 IMCA NATS IN PICS, PART 1: UDEN

ULTIMATE G7 RACE - After an exceptional thrilling race, where Mario 'MSP' Schöne, Paul Ciccarello and 'Beuf' were during the 3 last segments never more than 7 laps from eachother, MSP could maintain during the last segment his ...one lap lead over Ciccarello until the end. One reads the deception on the face of Vlado Okali who, on the slow MRTU King, was a strong leader during the first segments, until he lost his chances in the pits. One recognises from left to right Paul Ciccarello (USA), Vladimir Horky (CZ), Paul 'Beuf' Pedersen (USA), Mario MSP Schöne (D) and Vlado Okali (SK). Pic: Stéphane Martin.

ULTIMATE G7 RACE - Main final with f.l.t.r. Paul Ciccarello (USA), Paul 'Beuf' Pedersen (USA), Juha Yli-Sipola (SF), Vlado Okali (SK), Vladimir Horky (CZ), Josef Korec (CZ), Mario 'MSP' Schöne (D) and P-A Watson (USA). Only Leo Hongisto (victim of bad marshalling at the semis) was missing to make it a true dream final. PIC: Stéphane Martin.

ULTIMATE G7 RACE - Mario Schöne's winning car used a Craig Landry ZAP 4.4" chassis and a Horky 8-magnets motor. Arm was PK balanced by Jaroslav Recek (who replaces Fritz Mattern). Body is the Peugeot Koford Long. Pic: Stéphane Martin.

ULTIMATE G7 RACE - At his first G7 race Youri van Rossem - the youngest entrant - did far from bad. Finland's Leo Hongisto missed a certain main due to a stupid marshalling error, making him loosing his motor. Pic: Stéphane Martin.

ULTIMATE G7 RACE - During the Semis a deslotted G7 car was hooking up in Larry Blanton's t-shirt. Brazil's José Mario Serra needed more than 2 minutes to set the car free. Pic: Stéphane Martin. ULTIMATE G7 RACE - Line-up for the main final with from top to bottom the cars of Ciccarello, 'Beuf', Yli-Sipola, Okali, Korec, Horky, Schöne and P-A Watson. Pic: Stéphane Martin.

ULTIMATE G7 RACE - The gap between American and Australian wing car racers is bigger than ever. None of the four Australians could reach even the Semis. Also Tim Tyler disappointed. But biggest deception came from the Australian wing car legend Dennis Traeger, six times winner of the Australian Nats - here on the picture with at the left the first European G7 world record holder Barry Magee (GB). After 65 little laps Traeger retired. He was not seen in the Box Stock G12 Races. Of the Aussies only Tony Pye reached a semi-pro level. Pic: Youri van Rossem.

BOX STOCK G12 RACE - Left one finds the winner's car (of Paul 'Beuf' Pedersen. Right one sees Joe Reid who came over from the States to help the Belgian youngsters at their first Box Stock G12 Race. Pic: Yves Welter sr.

BOX STOCK G12 RACE - F.l.t.r. Lasse Ĺberg, 'Gugu' Bernardino, Jose Mario Serra, Josef Korec and Anders Gustafson at the Consis. Above the famous Philip de Vries set-up, allowing young Youri to clock the... third best time at his real first G12 Race. A similar set was good for 'Piki' to reach the main. Pic: Yves Welter sr.

BOX STOCK G12 RACE - F.l.t.r. 'Piki' van Rossem, winner 'Beuf' Pedersen, Vladimir Horky, Paul Ciccarello, Josef Korec, Douwe Banning and Einari Fyhr at the Main Final. Of them 'Piki' was the lonely model car racer to reach the Main. Douwe Banning (right) disappointed. Despite his Fritz Mattern set-up he failed to survive the Consis in G7 and in the main of Box Stock G12 technical bothers with Piki's car were necessary to hold Douwe off from the last place on 8. BOX STOCK G12 RACE - Although Czechia was present in the Main with its two best racers, 'Beuf' was the final winner. Here Josef Korec, Paul 'Beuf' Pedersen and Vladimir Horky at the prize giving ceremonial. At the end of the IMCA Nats Korec passed Horky as leader of the prestigeous IOC-list, i.e. the all-time ranking of slotracers, based upon the most important international results. Pic: John Emmons.

PRODUCTION G12 SCALE RACE - View of the MRTU Blue King during free practice. There were 42 entries - 14 less than in Box Stock G12. Unfortunately the complete results were lost. Josef Korec won the race. Young Youri van Rossem clocked the second best time at the Qualifications. Pic: Yves Welter sr.

PRODUCTION G12 SCALE RACE - Look at the Czech working benches after Zdenek Benes and Petr Krcil were already home. We recognise the long hair of Antónin Vojtik, the later winner Josef Korec, his learn master Vladimir Horky and the young Miroslav Vadlejch. The last one finished 4th overall, Horky 7th overall. Vojtik was second. Or: 4 Czechs among the 8 finalists. Pic: Yves Welter sr.

PRODUCTION G12 SCALE RACE - F.l.t.r. Kai Kivekäs (SF), Tim Tyler (AU), Leo Hongisto (SF), Anders Gustafson (S), Yuha Yli-Sipola (SF), Kieran Dale and John  Emmons (USA). Pic: Yves Welter sr.

PRODUCTION G12 SCALE RACE - The complete Czech team reached the main final of a race with 43 entrants, where the Americans disappointed since none of them reached the main. Eventually Josef Korec won ahead over Antónin Vojtik and Einari Fyhr. Pic: John Emmons

WORLDS CONCOURSE - With this superbly detailed Dodge Brawny Britain's George Kimber won for the second consecutive time the Worlds Concourse. Pic: Youri van Rossem.

WORLDS CONCOURSE - Just as last year concourse went with Nascar cars. And just as last year George Kimber (GB) was the winner. Runner-up was Paul 'Split' Heath. Third was Stefan Törnfeldt with a car built by brother Claes Törnfeldt. Pic: Yves Welter sr.

AMATEURS WORLDS - The Amateurs Worlds, organised this year for the first time, was a preselection race for the 124 IMCA Model Car Worlds. Gabriël Inäbnit (CH) won with his #10 Pontiac ahead of Martin Borch (DK) and Kai Kivekas (SF). Pics: Yves Welter sr.

MELLO YELLO JUNIOR WORLDS - The Mello Yello was dominated by the above three cars. The #21 Motorcraft Ford is from winner Nick de Wachter (NL). The #97 Ford Sharpies Rubbermaid is from runner-up Yves Welter jr (B). The #40 Dodge Coor's Light is from Dennis Vogel who finished third. There were 18 international youngsters at the start. IMCA 124 MODELCAR WORLDS - Contested with NASCAR cars only the 15 best experts, 7 best youngsters and 6 best amateurs were allowed at the start. The race was dominated by 3 cars: the #21 of Nick de Wachter, #97 of Yves Welter jr and #22 of 'Piki'- pic: Welter

IMCA 124 MODELCAR WORLDS - At the Nascar races there was a sharp competition between the cars prepaired by the young Nick de Wachter (who also prepaired the cars of Gilles Dohogne and Tamar Nelwan) and the cars prepaired by Philip de Vries. The last named had 4 of his cars qualified for the main (those of Welter jr, 'Piki', Mertens and Youri van Rossem). However the #21 car of Nick de Wachter was the best prepaired and - on an easy track as the Blue King - just unbeatable. Pic: Youri van Rossem

IMCA 124 MODELCAR WORLDS - No less than 5 youngsters reached the main final, together with 3 former world champions among the experts. Here the cars of Nick de Wachter (21), Yves Welter jr (97), quadruple world champ 'Piki' (22), double world champ Salvatore Noviello (9), Dennis Vogel (41), Youri van Rossem (41), the surprising Mark Garcia (21) and 2000 world champion Geert Mertens - pic: Yves Welter sr.

IMCA 124 MODELCAR WORLDS - No good picture of the podium at the Worlds could be found, as if it was not the most important race together with the G7 event. Winner was (again) Nick de Wachter with Yves Welter jr as runner-up and last year's world champion 'Piki' as third. Pic: Yves Welter sr. At the right we find Eugčne van de Ven, the man who runs the MRTU in Uden. Pic: John Emmons.
