ISRA € 2,500 ES24 RACE & EUROCUP FOR NATIONAL TEAMS

MECHELEN (B), OCTOBER 24-25, 2009 - € 15000 MTT TRACK TO THE WINNING NATION

€ 2500 ES24 WORLDS REVENGE RACE

IMCA organises by the end of September an ES24 race under ISRA rules for national teams with 4 racers each. Such countries as Czechia, Italy, Finland, Sweden, England, Latvia,  Slovakia and Russia are already invited. If other nations wish to enter they can use the entry form in the right column to confirm their entry with 4 racers.
The race will be contested at the MTT track in Mechelen (Belgium) with maximum 9 national teams and 36 cars. Four best qualifiers move directly to the three semis and eight fastest at the Semis move to the main final. Fastest qualifier scores 1 point for his nation, top-10 finishers res; 20, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point. The nation having scored the most points wins the Moneytron II prize of € 2500 cash. Race director will be probably Andy Wasserman.
The used Steve Ogilvie MTT track is a copy of the track used in 1987 in Bordeaux for the scale racing Worlds, then still contested with ES32 cars, prior to the foundation of the ISRA. It's a smooth track, not directly a spaghetti as some actual tracks, but constructed in function of fast ES cars. It's the intention that the formula as a competition among national teams will be continued in the coming years as a kind of Revenge Race for the previous ES24 Worlds. Entry fee: € 20 per racer.

RACE LOCATION: Zaal de Posthoorn, Brusselsestraat 49, B-2600 Mechelen.
HOTEL ACCOMMODATION: Hotel "Gulden Anker", Brusselsestraat 2, B-2600 Mechelen. Phone:
+ 32 (0)15-42.25.35 - Fax: + 32 (0) 15-42.34.99.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The eight national teams having scored the most points at the Revenge Race can enter the following day the EuroCup Model Car Race where extremely similar handout cars will be raced, assigned by lottery. Here model car racers and scale racers will meet each other in a competition where the best drivers will be the eventual winners. The national team having scored most points at the EuroCup wins a brand new € 15,000 MTT track, built in Canada by Steve Ogilvie Tracks, and home delivered.

HOW TO WIN THE € 15,000 TRACK

Any European country, showing with four racers, can subscribe for the € 2500 ES24 Race. If more than nine nations subscribe for the ES24 Race the IOC points won by a nation's four racers will be added and the nine countries with the highest total will be allowed to start at the € 2500 ES24 Race. The eight national teams having scored most points at that race are allowed to enter the EuroCup rounds with perfectly similar handout top model cars the following day. Those model cars are all built by the same specialist and will be assigned by lottery. Winner of the EuroCup wins the brand new  €15,000 MTT track. What to do to enter? Quite simple: you complete the green entry form below.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Below one finds provisionally 16 national teams with their invited racers. Of them 8 are teams with model car racers and 8 are teams with scale racers. It's possible that one of the last named 8 teams with scale racers will be substituted by another team, not on the pictures: that will depend upon who will be the 8 teams finishing among the top-8 at the ES24 race. Provisionally we suppose that it could be Czechia, Italy, Finland, Sweden, Slovakia, the UK, Latvia and Russia.

Europaan Nations Model Car Cup - 16 national teams - handout RTR cars assigned per Lottery - 4 racers per national team - No entry fee - Small changes in set-up allowed - each team member does at least 1 round - weight penalties for top 3 after each round - extra points can be won at Group C quiz - First prize: a RTR MTT Track sent per container from Canada (value € 15,000)

NATIONS CUP BASIC PRINCIPLES

(1) Each national team - counting four racers - receives, assigned by lottery, a handout 1/24th RTR 1989 WSPC car using the same chassis, motor and tyres as all others and having been assembled as equal as possible to all other cars.
(2) All teams can practice the completely unmodified cars during 8 x 5 minutes. Scale racers receive 90 extra minutes on Saturday evening.
(3) After practice nothing on the received car may be changed except for (i) the suspension springs, (ii) the allocation of the ballast, (iii) the braids and (iv) the fixation of the rear wing. Any form of tyre dressing and any use of power spray is forbidden on sanction of disqualification. Teams have 30 minutes to apply changes if they want so. Changing happens under the eyes of three officials..
(4) Competition goes over five rounds of 8 x 5 minutes, always with two racers per car doing an equal number of stints. Qualifications of 1'/car decide upon composition of the heats, with 6 & 8 cars per heat.
(5) At each round the 10 first ranked cars win for their nation res. 20, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point(s). The top qualifier wins 1 extra point for his team. Each member of a team has to race minimum once.
(6) There are absolutely no work on the cars  during rotation.
(7) A broken rear wing can be changed for a new one during racing time. There will be an extra spoiler per non-Porsche 962C available.
(8) As soon as a rear spoiler diverges more than 15° from its original horizontal position the car is black flagged to adjust the rear spoiler.
(9) Cars having finished in the top-3 of a round have to start with 20 gram ballast glued by an official under the highest point of the nose of the car. Ballast may only be removed when a car finishes no longer in the top-3. Should a car with ballast finish again in the top-3 an additional 20 gram will be glued under the front bonnet.
(10) During scrutineering one man per nation can win 1.5 bonus points per correct answer on a multiple choice quiz on 1982-1992 Group C cars. Questions will be made by a British motoring historian and be handed over under sealed envelop to the race director. [JPVR is not allowed to participate at the quiz]. There will be 20 multiple choice questions. Per wrong answer one looses 0.5 bonus points, but nobody can loose more points than he/she won.
(11) The link between autosport and slot-racing, having resulted in an absolute boom of slot-racing during the mid sixties, can hardly be any closer than at the Nations Cup.
(12) The nation having scored most points (at the five rounds, the qualifications and the quiz) wins the EuroCup and the Steve Ogilvie MTT track. Track will be delivered home without shipping posts at the address given by the winning team.

WHY AN MTT TRACK AS PRIZE?

In 2007 IMCA decided to use the famous MTT track, earlier used at the 1987 and 1989 Worlds, as standard track for all IMCA World Championships. Number of MTT tracks actually in Europe is restricted to 3 (Belgium, Norway, Italy). By giving away an MTT track we create the possibility to organise in the future the IMCA Worlds at a fourth location in Europe. Moreover it's an excellent track for fast scale racing cars as ES24, ES32, 132F1, G12, etc. I hope that racers will appreciate our efforts to promote slot-racing on such way and that the different nations will show with their four best racers. The track will be built by Brian Crosby of Steve Ogilvie Tracks in Canada and shipped over before X-Mas 2009 to the location we receive from the winning nation. Shipping costs will be paid by IMCA.
